“Lamma Mia” Public Art Project – Guided Tours

Art meets heritage in a walking journey through Lamma’s hidden landscapes

Stories by the Sea: Guided Tours for “Lamma Mia” on South Lamma

From hills made of irregularly shaped stones to shores ideal for fish farming and the historic Kamikaze Grotto from World War II, South Lamma was rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage, with countless stories waiting to be uncovered. The Art Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, along with Art Together and the Hong Kong Community Heritage Foundation, launched the “Lamma Mia” Public Art Project at Sok Kwu Wan from December 11, 2021, to March 13, 2022.

This initiative featured a series of public cultural events, including guided tours designed to delve into the untold stories embedded in the scenic landscape of South Lamma. Participants had the opportunity to engage with the local community and explore the island’s unique history and culture through art and storytelling.

What we did

  • Customized Tours: English and Cantonese guided tours to engage diverse audiences.
  • Route Design and Research: Developed tailored routes highlighting significant cultural and historical sites in South Lamma.
