From Reservoirs to Conservation: Public Education Through Waterworks Tours

Commissioned as part of the Water Supplies Department’s public outreach efforts, Walk in Hong Kong delivers the “Excursion with Water Save Dave” Visiting Programme, a themed educational tour series aimed at promoting water conservation awareness and appreciation of Hong Kong’s waterworks heritage.

Participants visit a range of historic and operational waterworks facilities, learning about their engineering significance, historical evolution, and ongoing role in sustainable water supply. With content tailored to both heritage interpretation and environmental education, the programme connects technical infrastructure with public values like conservation, stewardship, and historical pride.
