What we did

Wah Fu Estate is about to undergo redevelopment, and the vistas seen in the movie will soon become distant memories. Through this scene tour, we hope to support outstanding Hong Kong cinema and step into Wah Fu Estate with everyone to say “ciao” to the UFO once more.

Ciao UFO swept the board at this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards, winning multiple major accolades, including Best Film. With a delicate touch, the film depicts the familiar street corners and daily estate life that Hongkongers know so well, awakening a generation’s memories and emotions tied to this city. Many of its most touching scenes were filmed right in Wah Fu Estate, a community dubbed the “Public Housing Luxury Estate” that has carried the story of Hong Kong’s public housing for half a century, but is now facing imminent redevelopment.

Walk in Hong Kong continues its mission of blending film, tourism, and cultural history promotion. This time, we are hosting a screening and scene tour for Goodbye UFO. We sincerely invite you to revisit this wonderful film at Golden Scene Cinema, and then follow Aiko Kan, a member of the film’s creative team and founder of Exploring Hong Kong Public Housing, alongside Paul Chan, Co-founder of Walk in Hong Kong. Together, they will lead you into the real-life locations from the movie to examine Wah Fu Estate’s architectural features, community fabric, and stories of human connection, while reminiscing about the moments behind the camera.
