From November 2020 to August 2022, Walk in Hong Kong and Ground Culture Limited co-organised a long-term heritage learning programme for PLK Ma Kam Ming College in Fanling. Responding to the school’s emphasis on positive education and its diverse student population—including a significant number of cross-boundary students—the programme aimed to cultivate students’ confidence, communication skills, and sense of place through creative exploration of their community.
Despite disruptions caused by the pandemic, the programme adapted with a mix of in-person and virtual components. Students engaged in hands-on learning across six workshops, a taster walking tour, and group mentoring. Through storytelling, oral history, and community mapping, they uncovered Fanling’s cultural richness while developing practical skills in writing, research, design, and tour guiding.
