HKUST DSTO: Campus Storytelling & Tour Guide Training

Empowering student leaders to turn personal and institutional history into memorable guided experiences

Commissioned by the Dean of Students’ Office (DSTO) at HKUST, Walk in Hong Kong developed a four-part training programme to equip student leaders with the skills to become inspiring campus ambassadors. Titled “From Stories to Tours: HKUST Campus Narrators Programme”, the initiative focused on design thinking, oral history, storytelling, and public speaking — all essential tools for crafting engaging and authentic guided experiences.

The programme culminated in an off-campus Kowloon Walled City & Food Adventure, where participants explored the intersection of history, culture, and personal narratives through an immersive, game-based tour. Students left the programme with sharpened communication skills, a deeper sense of HKUST identity, and the confidence to share stories that resonate. This project highlights our ability to create meaningful education and leadership programmes through place-based, narrative-driven learning.
