Trace Wong Jim’s legacy through creating a walking tour

Legendary Cantopop lyricist James Wong Jim is widely regarded as the godfather of Hong Kong’s pop culture. However, few paid attention to his upbringing — how his teenage years in Sham Shui Po shaped his future career.

In 2014, Walk in Hong Kong partnered with the General Education Unit of HKU and James Wong Study to organize a non-credit-bearing General Education course for undergraduates at the university. Students registering for the course delved deep into the neighbourhood of Sham Shui Po where they were told the stories of James Wong’s life as a teenager by Dr Ng Chun Hung, founder of James Wong Study and close friend of Wong himself.
