Reimagining Access to Arts and Heritage: From District Stories to Pop Culture and Printmaking

Between 2021 and early 2022, Walk in Hong Kong partnered with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) to deliver a series of virtual programmes that kept cultural experiences alive during the pandemic. These initiatives supported LCSD’s mission to bring heritage and the arts to the public, even as physical access was limited.

The 18dART – Community Arts Scheme featured 18 bilingual virtual walking tours, one for each district in Hong Kong, connecting audiences to local culture, heritage, and hidden stories. For the Hong Kong Pop 60+ exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, we co-hosted a virtual tour series alongside museum curators to explore the evolution of local film, television, and pop music (Watch the tour highlights here.). Later, under StayTour @ Hong Kong Heritage Museum, we curated and delivered three online tours showcasing the exhibitions Hand-in-Hand for Benevolence – Tung Wah’s Fundraising Culture and Social Development, Between the Lines – The Legends of Hong Kong Printing, and 20/20 Hong Kong Print Art Exhibition. Together, these projects formed a robust, creative response to cultural engagement in a time of physical distancing.
