From Policy to Public Space: A Cultural Field Study for Oxford PhD Students
Walk in Hong Kong curated a bespoke academic field tour for a cohort of PhD students from Oxford University, with a focus on urban culture, cultural innovation, and creative development in the Hong Kong context. Designed as part of their global learning experience, the programme connected theory with place through real-world exploration and expert-led commentary.
Over the course of a day, students explored West Kowloon Cultural District and Central, examining how cultural institutions, public art, heritage reuse, and civic design are shaping the city’s identity and policy directions. Themes such as cultural policy, urban placemaking, and heritage innovation were explored through direct interaction with the built environment and curated interpretation.
