Tour Development and Docent Training Programme for HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine

What we do:

  • Develop engaging and inspiring tour narratives to complement the Faculty’s orientation programme.\
  • Guide students to participate in the tours, cultivating them to develop storytelling skills, tour delivery techniques, and the ability to handle unexpected situations
  • Organize trial tours and on-site practices to allow students to gain hands-on docent experience

Commissioned by the HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, Walk in Hong Kong has designed this student docent training programme. Through crafting a themed campus tour around Sassoon Road, covering the Faculty’s history, legends, anecdotes, and present-day campus life, Walk in Hong Kong leads HKU students through the campus to explore the Faculty’s historical development and major achievements.

Walk in Hong Kong has also arranged three trial tours to equip student docents with practical tour-leading skills. The first two trial tours are designed in a progressive manner, focusing on professional storytelling techniques, docent etiquette, and emergency handling. The third trial tour, under the guidance of Walk in Hong Kong, is led by the student docents themselves, allowing them to apply what they have learned in real practice.
