Unfolding Stories of the Southern District From Water to Shore

This is a hybrid virtual tour that blends on-location filming with real-time interactive narration, guiding audiences through Ap Lei Chau and Aberdeen to uncover the intertwined stories of the fisherfolk way of life and urban transformation. The journey begins on Ap Lei Chau Main Street and passes through historic landmarks such as Hung Shing Temple, Hoi Wong Temple, the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, and the old police station. The journey is completed with Kai-to to experience traditional waterborne transportation. Meanwhile, live studio segments provide interactive commentary on festivals like Hung Shing Festival, the water dialect and culinary traditions such as boat noodles and the history of Yue Lee Tai, known as Hong Kong’s first cha chaan teng.

At the heart of the tour is storytelling, transforming history into lived, relatable experience. Wherever you are joining from, participants are immersed in the cultural textures and emotional depth of the Southern District. Step into a rich virtual cultural journey that reveals the evolution of a city and the resilience of its people.
