Supported by the Central & Western District Council, Central District Kaifong Welfare Association and the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations of the Central & Western District Ltd, we organized the 5-month “City Stories Come Alive: Central & Western District Cultural Ambassadors Programme” to equip 24 children to become cultural ambassadors.

We began by introducing to the kids the distinctive history and culture of various neighbourhoods in the district through walking tours. Step by step the kids were trained in storytelling and docent skills, and gradually became ready to lead tours on their own.  Over 500 members of the public who joined the tours were deeply impressed by the children’s knowledge of the district, confidence, and eloquence in their delivery. The programme culminated in the Central & Western District Children’s Storytelling Competition where participants’ storytelling techniques, public speaking skills and confidence in delivery were put to the test.
